New England style, California climate
This project’s steep lot — and Los Altos Hills’ restrictive grading policies — challenged us to site a 7,000 square foot house, detached garage and pool. We looked at several options, high on the site where an existing house was located, to take advantage of the views, low on the site with the pool on the hillside above the house. We even looked at building the garage into the hillside as a ‘bunker’. We finally settled on the center of the site, which gave easier access to the majority of the site. The floor area is divided into a full basement and two levels above grade. The living areas open out onto porches which overlook the pool. The project was built by Mansour and Kathy Moussavian, who also did the interior design.
